A 12kg cylinder’s price has been increased by Tk 44. It will now cost Tk 1,421, Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced on Monday (September 2).
Meanwhile, at the retail level, each litre of autogas will cost Tk 65.26 (including VAT).
In a notification, the BERC said it was readjusting the cost since the Saudi contract price of Aramco’s propane and butane was set at $605 and $595 per tonne respectively in September, with an average price of $598.5.
Last year, BERC hiked LPG and autogas prices five times.
Bangladesh has an annual LPG demand of nearly 14 lakh metric tonnes. The government produces 2 percent of the consumers’ demand, while the rest is met through imports by the private sector.
